WKA Northeast Speedway Pavement Series

June 30, 2009

(Updated Information Highlighted in Red)

Route 106 Race Park: There's a lot to talk about regarding the upcoming event at the Route 106 Race Park. As previously announced, we have made every effort to reduce cost by compressing practice and two race events into one weekend. There will be six hours of Fee Practice from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Saturday, July 11. That will be followed by two, maybe three rounds of free practice. Following that there will be our regular race schedule under the lights. Sunday, July 12 will follow our regular daily schedule with practice beginning at 9:00 AM.

On our last post we announced that the local Route 106 competitors who race with sealed Animal engines would be running with us. However, after looking at their rules, it became apparent that they were not compatible with the WKA classes. As a result, they will run a separate program Saturday evening.

All of these things should give us a strong kart count and lots of fun. See you at Route 106 Race Park.

Karting for Cancer: Here’s our opportunity to help fight cancer while taking part in a karting event, either as a spectator or participant. On Monday July 13, 2009, Wild Thing Karts of East Longmeadow, MA will be hosting “Karting for Cancer” at Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. This special karting event is in support of cancer research, and proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.

You can attend and bring your friends and family for a tour of the speedway and watch the great competition. Cancer patients and survivors will be admitted at no charge. And even better, if your kart fits one of the classes offered at Stafford Speedway, you can join the competition. For information on the classes offered, go to the Wild Thing Karts web site at http://www.wildthingkarts.com/rules.htm/

For complete information on attending the event, click on the Kart for Cancer button on the left. See you all there.

WKA National Speedway Pavement Series Comes to Riverhead Speedway: That's right! Riverhead Speedway and East End Kart Racing will host the last National Speedway Pavemement Series race of the 2009 season. Riverhead was picked because of its long term partnership with WKA as a Master Track. In addition EEKR has supported WKA and followed its engine, chassis and tire rules, and the local Riverhead competitors have been strong supporters of the WKA Northeast Speedway Pavement Series (WKANESPS).

WKANESPS has given WKA its traditional Columbus Day weekend date, October 9 to 11, 2009, for the national event. WKANESPS competitors can use the two day event on October 3 and 4 to prepare for the national event.
