Sugar Hill Speedway Event Cancelled: The WKANESPS Board of Directors met on Monday, June 14 to decide how to proceed in light of the closure of the Sugar Hill Speedway. This decision will allow competitors who missed the first event at Wall Stadium to race at Pomfret and the double header at Riverhead and still compete for a championship. Competitors who race all four events will get full credit for WKA National Bonus Point Transfers and receive 44 bonus points,

They will receive 10 additional points for the third event and 10 points for the fourth event. Points are earned regardless of the driver's race or series finishing position.
SFI Decertifies Impact Racing Driver Suits and Belts: On April 21, the Safety Foundation, Inc. (SFI) issued a press release and a report on testing of two Impact Racing driver suits manufactured in 2008. Both suits failed SFI testing. WKA has not yet taken an official position on these suits. However, if you have an Impact Racing driver suit manufactured in 2005, 2006, 2007, or 2008, and bearing an SFI label, it is highly recommended that you return the suit to your dealer or to Impact Racing.
Safety harnesses and related belting manufactured in 2005, 2006, 2007 or 2008 may also not be compliant with SFI specifications. Because WKA requires that belts and arm restraints be replaced every two years, these potentially non compliant belts and arm restraints will cycle out of competiton by the end of 2010. This announcement does not affect SFI certified Impact Racing helmets.
